Rare Earth Elements (USA potential)

.
One of the primary drivers for founding GPS Ventures™ was an opportunity to help reduce the USA's dependence on imports of "rare-earth" and other important metals/minerals/elements which are essential to power common items such as smartphones (e.g. speakers, cameras, vibration-based technology, etc).
.
Of note, Aircraft Engines, Missile-systems (as developed by Raytheon®, BAE® and Lockheed®), Medical imaging/MRI equipment and many Defense-systems' wares, including US DoD's Space Force®, rely on rare-earth elements.
.
According to a MarshMcLennan 2022 report, China has 85%+ of rare-earth processing capacity and 60% of rare-earth production. Rare-earths are imported to the USA from China as well as India, Japan, Malaysia, Canada, Australia & Estonia among others. Notably, utilization of Rare-Earths in all aspects of manufacturing was initially pioneered in the USA decades ago.
.
Our technology has been fine-tuned to locate, among others, Cobalt, Lithium, Copper, Iron, Zinc, Platinum, Rhodium, Palladium, Gold  and Silver deposits - all of which continue to be important parts of numerous manufacturing supply-chains including catalytic converters (for exhaust systems) and the Lithium-ion (rechargeable) batteries that are utilized in cameras, electronic devices, smartphones, laptops, tablets, EV's, etc.
.

.
For context in terms of the USA's future resource needs/demand for these commodities:
.
- Smartphone batteries utilize 5 to 10 grams of Cobalt (that's about the weight of 2 to 4 US "pennies").
.
- EV/Electric Vehicle batteries require 9 to 70 lbs (4 to 30 kgs) of Cobalt.
.
.
For reference, Rare-Earth Elements (REEs) categories include:

- Light Rare-Earths (such as Neodymium which is one of 6 others and also prominent in Tesla® magnetic motors)

- Heavy Rare-Earths (including Dysprosium which is one of 11 others, found in Wind Turbines, iPhones® & Catalytic Converters)

- Magnet Materials of which there are 5 (including Samarium Cobalt - a key component in high-fidelity vintage Ross® Headphones & Fender's '57 Hot Rod Stratocaster® guitars).
